Mapping and SAR

SAR and maps go hand in hand, but with recent developments in mapping in New Zealand and advances in technology there is now a possibility for greater use of electronic maps and GIS systems.

The recent developments include:

  1. Changes to the New Zealand geodetic datum, which is going to mean a complete change in our maps in the next year or so
  2. Removal of copyright from NZ maps means that we can now freely copy and distrubute maps in paper or electronic form.
  3. NZTopoOnline - An online mapping system with the ability to download mapping data for GIS applications
